Choosing the right domain name is always a dilemma.

People looking for owning a website have so many doubts their mind for selecting a domain name. I am providing here few facts that will surely help you in getting your thought clear.

In choosing a domain name, always ask yourself some questions and try to get the answers of them from your mind. The questions are: 

1.For whom you are building the website? Or who would be your target audience?

2.What you suppose to sell to them. Is it any tangible item or just text content?

3.What will make your business idea different or unique from everyone those who are already present in the market? Try to be distinctive. 

GO! Explore your mind and write upon your answers on a paper. 

Many people believe that it is important to have keywords in your domain. Keywords in the domain name are generally important, but this usually can be done while having a short domain name, that is memorable, and also free of hyphens. 

Using keywords in your domain name offers you a strong competitive advantage over your other competitors. Keeping your keywords in your domain name increases the possibility of increasing click-through-rates on search engine indexing and paid ads. It also make it easier to use your keywords in get keyword rich inbound descriptive links.

Try to avoid purchasing long and confusing domain names. Separating the words in their domain names using either dashes or hyphens is not a good practice. In the past, the domain name itself was a significant ranking factor but now search engines have advanced features and it is not a very significant factor anymore.

Keep two to three words in your domain name that will be easy to memorize and identify. Some of the most notable websites do a great job of branding by creating their own word. Few examples are eBay, Yahoo!, Expedia, Slashdot, Fark, Wikipedia, Google, etc. 

The domain name should be like that you should be able to tell it over the phone once, and the other person should know how to spell it, and also they should be able to guess what you sell.        

After analyzing all the factors, you must be able to answer the following
questions, finally.

1.Why do you want to develop your website?

2.Why should people buy from your site and not from other sites?

3.What makes you being different from others?

4.Who are your target readers and what do you suppose to sell?

5.List 5 to 10 websites that you think are amazing. Now think, why they are amazing?

6.Create 5 different domain names. Make at least 1 of them funny. Tell them to 10- 12 persons and see which ones are the most memorable. You will get more honest feedback if the people do not know you well.

7.Buy your domain name that is catchy, memorable, and relevant to your business. 

The answers to these questions will clear your passage a much, and you will be able to decide the domain name for your website.
