02-Jul-2023BHIM app works by using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to send and receive money instantly. UPI is a payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that allows users to make payments using their mobile phones.
To use BHIM app, you need to create an account and link your bank account to the app. Once your account is created, you can start sending and receiving money using UPI.
To send money using BHIM app, you need to know the VPA of the recipient. VPA stands for Virtual Payment Address and is a unique identifier that can be used to send money to someone. You can find the VPA of the recipient by asking them or by looking it up on their bank's website.
To receive money using BHIM app, you need to share your VPA with the sender. The sender can then use your VPA to send you money.
BHIM app is a secure way to send and receive money. All transactions are encrypted and protected by two-factor authentication.

29-Apr-2017Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use the app:
1. Android users can download the application from Play Store by searching for ‘BHIM’. The app is not available for iOS users yet.
2. Install the application and choose your language. The app will prompt you to verify your phone number using an SMS. Click on Next and wait for the verification process to be completed.
3. Once the verification is complete, input a four digit passcode.
4. After a passocode is set, the app will ask you to select your bank. Once the bank is selected, the app automatically picks up your details using your phone number. Select the primary bank account that will be used for all your transactions.
5. The app displays three options — send, request and scan/pay. Transactions are possible only between verified phone numbers.
6. To send money to someone, type in their phone number and the amount to be transferred. The app will prompt you to input your MPIN, usually a four or a six digit code that authenticates a mobile transaction.
7. Likewise, you can request money from someone, using their phone number.
8. The third option, scan & pay, allows users to transfer money using a QR code, a two dimensional black and white barcode which can be decoded by a smartphone or a tablet. Each phone number is assigned a QR code which can be accessed under profile on the home screen.

28-Apr-20171. First BHIM app will verify your mobile number and then ask for your choice of bank. You will get an SMS on the linked mobile number. The, BHIM will ask you to set a 4-digit password. Pick one that you will remember easily, as you have to enter it every time you log into the app.
2. Now, select your bank. It will show you the account number, if your bank account is UPI activated. You’ll see options to send and receive money, and transact via IFSC. If it shows that UPI is not activated for your account, you can give six digits of your debit card number, and its expiry date, to activate UPI. The app will then allow you to use the services.
3. To transfer money to a user, type in the mobile number or VPA address of whom you want to send the money. BHIM will verify the payee. Enter the amount, and hit pay. If the payee doesn’t have UPI, tap on the three dots above the send money option. The ACCOUNT + IFSC option will open up, where you can put in the details and send the money to payee account.
4. There is currently a limitation to have access to only one account per mobile number. So if your same mobile number is linked to two different bank accounts, you will have to change the linked account as you can use only one at a time.
