The step was taken against the backdrop of the competition and antitrust regulators which had different perspectives regarding Microsoft's dominance, dominantly, in the AI sector.

The company introduced the two policies called the AI Access Principles. Their main purpose is to promote fair competition and to allow access to AI technology for the overall benefit of companies and individuals all over the world. These principles include:

Access and Support for AI Developers: Microsoft promises to offer resources, guidance, and support for AI developers, who facilitated this way, can envision and develop AI applications that meet public demands. Protection of Developer Data: In the next critical phase, which is to encourage transparency and trust Microsoft makes a pledge that it won't use non-public data or information that has been pooled up from building and facilitating developers' AI models while competing with those models in Microsoft Azure.
