Connect Devices using WPS Button on your Linksys WiFi Router

WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) is a feature that lets you connect WPS-supported client devices easily. In this post, we will provide you three (3) valuable methods that you can follow depending upon what client device you are using to connect to the main router through Linksys router WPS button.

An Important Note for you: The WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) feature configures only a single device at a time. This button is located on the back or front panel of your device. Though some wireless-G routers don’t support the WPS feature, we refer to your product documentation for detailed features of your Linksys router.

Connecting a Smart Device Using WPS Button

If your client has a WPS button, then make use of this method. It will prompt you to press the button on your router for 30 seconds.

Step 1 - Locate the WPS button. Press and hold it for 20 seconds. On the other hand, you can configure the WiFi Protected Setup from there by just hitting on the same button and access your router’s web-based setup page as well. 

In order to access the web-page setup page for your router, open a web browser and in the address bar type the default IP address of Linksys device. Hit enter, fill in the default login credentials and after that, hit OK.

Step 2 - Within one (1) minute, click the WPS button on your client device that you want to connect with your router’s WiFi network.

Your device is now connected to your router using WPS wirelessly. If you experience issues with the WPS feature such as ‘Connection Failure’, then:

• First of all, maybe your client device failed to connect to the network.

• Secondly, you have to refer back to your client device for further instructions.

• To continue further, press OK.

Connecting a Device using the WPS PIN of its Own

If your client device has a WPS PIN (Personal Identification Number), then we would recommend using this method. This process assumes that you have your client device’s PIN already. In case you have a doubt in getting your client device WPS PIN, contact our tech support team on the toll-free number

Step 1 - First of all, access the web-based setup page of your Linksys WiFi router. Open any preferred and up-to-date web browser and in its address bar type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. 

Step 2 - Here, on the displayed page, you will be asked for login details to fill. Once done, click OK. 

Step 3 - Follow the process. Tick wireless> WiFi Protected Setup. 

Step 4 - Now, in the blank fields enter your client device’s PIN and hit the ‘registration’ button. 

Important Note: After the installation and configuration process, your device supposed to be connected with your router wirelessly using the same WPS procedure. If you experience issues, then without any delay and hesitation call our tech support team.

Connecting a Device Using Router’s WPS PIN

If your client device asks for the PIN (Personal Identification Number) for router, then consider using this method.

Step 1 - Open a web browser of your choice and access the web-based setup page of the Linksys device. 

Step 2 - Type the default type address, hit enter and after that, the login credentials (when prompt). 

Step 3 - Wireless> WiFi Protected Setup. Click on this two mentioned icons simultaneously. 

Step 4 - Now, you have to take note of the router’s PIN on the third item of the WPS screen. Also, remember that the PIN of your Linksys device varies according to the device being connected. 

Step 5 - Enter your router’s PIN when prompt. Remember, PIN supposed to be unique. 

Step 6 - Enter the PIN and follow the on-screen instructions. 

Fab! Your device is now connected to the router wirelessly. Still encountering problems with the WPS such as ‘Connection Failure’?
