Whether it’s hiking, trekking, backpacking or snowshoeing, a pair of reliable trekking poles can really come in handy to you. These poles are proven to be operational, strategic, and convenient, so yes, you should all get one pair before you set off on an adventurous journey.

If you are about to trek for the first time, you might question the importance of these poles, and some might even think of them as “unwanted” and “extra”. But the truth is that for someone who has been on a hike before and has been trekking for a long time, knows the benefits of using trekking poles.

Speaking of which, if you search the internet for the best trekking poles, you’ll probably find a lot of them, and you’ll even get confused with all the different types, options, and features. But don’t worry because today we are here to help you with that.

Today we are going to tell you about some of the most important things that you should consider to buy the right trekking pole. So do take notes and follow up all of what we tell you.

1- The Type Of Trekking Pole

There are three basic types of trekking poles available in the market. There’s the standard trekking pole, then comes the shock-absorbing pole and then the stiff pole. Most people go for the standard poles because they are easier to carry, light in weight, and on top of everything, these poles are inexpensive. But if you want something that’s high in quality and if you don’t mind spending a little extra money, then opt for the shock-absorbing poles as these are more appropriate for safer and easier trekking.

2- The Handle Design

The next most important thing to consider is the design of the handle. There are three of them too. First is the cork designed handle, then comes the one with foam, and then there’s a rubber handle design. If you want more grip and more comfort, then choose the cork one because even though it’s a little costly, it’s still the best.

3- Locking Mechanism

Lastly, you need to consider the locking mechanism of the trekking pole that you are about to buy. There are twist locks, and then there are flick locks. The pole with a twist lock is better for the summer season, and the flick locks are better for the winter season

Conclusion

These are some of the main things to consider before buying trekking poles. Consider these factors and buy the one that’s worth your money.
