Pros and Cons of Binary Number For a Product

Everything digital product around you is running with the binary numbers. Without these numbers, the digital data transformation would not be possible. For example, if you enter text in your computer system, then the system converts it into the binary Once it is converted into the binary, the system can read it. Once the system is ready with the solution, it sends back the text value so that you can read it.

This way every electronic system works. Apart from binary, there are other numbers like hexadecimal, decimal, octal. But binary is the simplest because it consists of just zeros and ones. There are several advantages and disadvantages to these numbers. Just go through this article and get to know about different advantages in the least amount of time.

Advantages:

1) Save passwords in Binary numbers

Security attacks have been one of the biggest issues on digital platforms. You have to be alert when it comes to security. To make a website more secure, passwords can be saved into binary numbers so that no one can read them easily. To read those numbers, the attackers first convert the binary to text, once they convert it they can read the password. This process is quite time-consuming.

How do developers program this?

Once the user enters the password and username, developers convert the entered password into the equivalent binary numbers and then store that binary numbers into the database. For the validation, developers program the same process. When a user forgets a password then the developers perform conversion with binary to text translator and provide the user text string in the mail. This process has been one of the most successful methods for storing private data.

2) Easy to process

Yes, Binary is really easy to process. Since, binary consists of just zeros and ones, it is really easy to convert a given string into the binary number and getting those zeros and ones back into the text field. Along with that, an electronics system or a computer processor can easily read the binary values and react to the same in the least amount of time .

3) Devices can easily be built with zeros and ones

Just like the devices can process binary numbers easily, devices can be built using binary numbers very easily. It is very simple to use binary numbers to build electronic products compare to other numbers like hexadecimal, decimal, or octal numbers.

Dis-advantages:

1) Becomes too big

As you know that they consist of just two numbers, zeros, and ones. The processor takes each character from the given string and converts each character into the binary numbers. For example, the text of example consists of just seven characters where the binary of this number is “01100101 01111000 01100001 01101101 01110000 01101100 01100101” which is much more than the actual text string. For that reason, storing a binary number becomes a difficult task.

2) Occupies more space on a device

Just like binary numbers are longer than the actual text, it occupies more space on a device. Though it is easy to process these numbers, it still takes a while to process a large number of the file. You can opt for these numbers only if you have to process a limited number of data. An alternative to this system is nothing but a hexadecimal numbering system. You should consider hexadecimal numbers if you want to convert a huge amount of numbers.

So, these are different advantages and disadvantages of the binary numbering system. You can use these numbers for data parsing if your product matches the above requirement. If your product does not, then you should opt for another system then the binary. After reading this article if you have any doubts then feel free to contact us or just drop a comment below.
