For fans of long gaming sessions, owning a comfortable gaming headphone is essential. To obtain this comfort, it is better to choose a helmet adapted to its morphology, and in particular for players with a large head, because wearing a helmet equipped with a too short hoop can turn your gaming session into a real ordeal!
For players with a big head, you need to choose a gaming headphone with an adjustable headband, and materials that adapt to your morphology. You should also avoid helmets that compress and favor memory foam.
A good gaming headphone is capable of being forgotten, in addition to offering quality in terms of sound and microphone Forone Bluetooth Earbuds. The materials are also important since they will undergo greater stress, due to the size of the head. We have selected 5 helmets meeting these criteria, suitable for all budgets, and which will allow you to carry out long sessions without 'fuss'!
Important features
The headband / hoop
The first feature to consider is the headband, and you need to make sure that the headband is adjustable. The majority of today's gaming headphones have this feature, but beware of entry-level products. Also make sure that the hoop is of good quality, favoring aluminum over plastic, because the tension undergone by the hoop is greater on a large head. The preferred headbands are those with memory foam.
The ear cups / cushions
The second point that will impact your comfort concerns the ear cups and cushions. Depending on the size of your ears, you will need to favor helmets with large ear cups. Some gaming headphones have swivel ear cups, which conform to your body shape, in order to provide better comfort. Also learn about the material of the pads, which can be plastic, faux leather or velor.
The sound
Now that you have found a gaming headphone suited to your body type, robust and comfortable, you need to learn about the quality of the sound. If this last point has evolved a lot on entry-level gaming headphones, we must be aware that there are several types of technology, more or less efficient.
The sound stereo is probably the best known, and it is also the oldest of all. The sound is diffused by 2 channels, which are located on the right and on the left. It is probably the most suitable format for listening to music and is still used by many gamers in gaming.
Surround sound uses 5 or 7 channels to transcribe sounds coming from the right, left, in front or behind. It is therefore in theory easier to locate a sound precisely. However, this is still a matter of “feel”, some enjoy the surround sound where others feel better with the stereo in play.
There are two types of Surround: True 5.1 / 7.1 and Fake 5.1 / 7.1 :
The True 5.1 / 7.1 uses 5 headphones per ear to transcribe the sound.
These headphones are expensive and the sound is not always better represented than on the “ Fake ”.
The Fake 5.1 / 7.1 is its 'virtualized' or 'emulated''. Concretely, this type of headphone contains only 2 channels (stereo) and uses the reverberation of the sounds to simulate the 5 channels of surround sound.
Finally, spatial sound is a technology that adds the diffusion of sounds located above and below in addition to those transcribed by surround sound. Note that this technology is not yet used by all games.
The mic
The last important point concerns the microphone, since, even if it does not directly affect your personal comfort, the latter will determine the quality of the exchanges with your teammates. We always have a comrade on Discord who has a horrible mic, and I personally don't want to be that person! For microphones, there is not really a reliable call sign, and you have to rely on the advice of other players. We have therefore taken these opinions into account in order to compose our selection.
Corsair VOID ELITE RGB, our choice
Very popular with gamers, the Corsair VOID ELITE RGB is also one of the most suitable helmets for large body types, due to its modular headband. Its microfiber pads are also very comfortable and their shape completes the futuristic look of the helmet. With 390 grams on the scale, the VOID ELITE is not the lightest, but can be forgotten during games.
The sound is one of the best in this price range, since the audio transducers cover frequencies ranging from 20 Hz to 30,000 Hz. It is also possible to enjoy 7.1 surround sound (virtualized) on a PC, although I do not use it personally. To adjust the sound, a dial is present below the headphone, which changes the traditional boxes and we quickly get used to it.
The materials are very well made and the helmet is designed to last for years without worry. The icing on the cake, you have the possibility to change the color of the logos, via RGB settings (useless therefore essential). As you can see, this Corsair VOID ELITE RGB is (in our opinion) the best gaming headphone for big heads and is undoubtedly the best value for money.
Beyerdynamic MMX 300, the top of the range
at first glance, this Beyerdynamic MMX 300 does not seem to let any of its incredible characteristics transpire, in particular thanks to a very sober design (entirely tinted in black). Originally developed for private aviation, the Beyerdynamic is designed with very good quality materials, which make it very robust and comfortable.
The headband is adjustable, which makes the helmet suitable for all body types, even if the ear cups (covered with velvet) are more suitable for large ears. The German company relies on an experience of more than 90 years in the field to offer the player an incredible sound. Same story on the side of the microphone, since the latter does not suffer from any saturation problem.
The headphones also have a small control box, allowing you to adjust the sound, or mute / unmute the microphone. If you are looking for a high-end gaming headphone adapted to your morphology, the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 is for you, even if its price is not suitable for all budgets!
Plantronics RIG 400, the entry level
The most expensive gaming headphones aren't necessarily the best, and this Plantronics RIG 400 proves that it's possible to find good entry-level hardware. Rather imposing, this helmet is nevertheless very light (290 grams) and has a fairly thin headband. Its adjustable headband is of good quality, as are the microfiber pads.
Its detachable microphone is practical, but it seems complicated to walk in the street with this headphone, which does not go unnoticed! The sound is very good, although the bass is a bit weak, and the mic offers good sound quality on Discord.
Concretely, this Plantronics RIG 400 has everything a big one and is undoubtedly the best headphone adapted to your morphology in this price bracket. If you are looking for a solid helmet that is inexpensive and can last for several years, you have found the rare pearl!
Razer Nari, the wireless
The Razer Nari is an imposing headphone, which was designed for big heads. It's simple, the helmet does not stay in place on small riders and falls at the slightest nod of the head. However, it has features adapted to imposing morphologies, with an adjustable headband of several centimeters, and swivel ear cups, which adapts to the shape of your skull.
The materials are of good quality, and although the headphone is heavy (430 grams), its weight is perfectly distributed, which offers optimal comfort during long gaming sessions. The 'THX Spatial Audio' sound offers 360 coverage. °, allowing to quickly identify the position of the various elements in play. The microphone is also of very good quality and is adjustable via a small box, in addition to being retractable.
Little more significant, the headphone is wireless (2.4 GHz) and has a good autonomy. It is also possible to set RGB functionality through the Razer chroma, which adds a touch of aesthetics to the already well-groomed headphone. If you are looking for a wireless headphone that can fit on a towering head, this Razer Nari is the one for you!
