What is Vision OS? The source of Apple Vision Pro

Apple Vision Pro, which includes visionOS, the world's first spatial operating system, enables users to engage with digital information as if it were physically present in their surroundings. The groundbreaking design of Apple Vision Pro includes an ultra-high-resolution display system with 23 million pixels over two screens, as well as Apple silicon in a unique dual-chip architecture to ensure that every experience seems like it's happening in front of the user's eyes in real time.

Apple Vision Pro is a groundbreaking spatial computer that smoothly integrates digital material with the actual world, allowing users to remain present and connected to others. Apple Vision Pro delivers an unlimited canvas for programs that extends beyond the limitations of a standard display and introduces a completely three-dimensional user interface controlled by the most natural inputs available.

What is Vision Os?

A spectrum of immersion.

Apple Vision Pro offers an infinite spatial canvas for exploration, experimentation, and play, allowing you to completely reinvent your 3D experience. People may interact with your app while being aware of their surroundings, or they can fully immerse themselves in your generated world.

Spaces

By default, programs launch into the Shared Space, where they coexist alongside one another, similar to numerous apps on a Mac desktop. Apps may display material using windows and volumes, which the user can reposition as desired. To provide a more immersive experience, an app can launch a separate Full Space that displays just its own content. Inside a Full Space, an app may employ windows and volumes to build unbounded 3D content, establish a doorway to another universe, or totally immerse users in an environment.

A quick primer on spatial computing, VR, AR, and MR.

Apple refers to the Vision Pro as spatial computing, which means it "seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space." In other words, it's a gadget that can visually and audibly integrate digital material into the real-world surroundings of the wearer. Apple uses a broad definition of spatial computing since the devices will evolve over time; the Vision Pro is only the first iteration.

Virtual Reality (VR) headsets, such as Meta's Quest, HTC's Vive, and Sony's PlayStation VR2, employ screens in front of the user's eyes to allow them to experience a computer-generated virtual environment. The virtual environment might be in a computer game, a surround 3D video picture, or a metaverse virtual world. VR headsets often employ hand-held controllers to interact with the virtual environment. VR headsets are often hefty and can be linked to an external computer/game console or used independently.
