When John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky developed Artificial Intelligence in 1956, they were astounded that a machine could solve extremely difficult puzzles faster than people.
However, it turns out that teaching Artificial Intelligence to win a chess match is rather simple. Teaching a machine to recognise and mimic emotions would be difficult.
Humans have almost natural social and emotional intelligence; we react instinctively. While some of us are more sensitive than others, we can readily understand the emotions and moods of others around us.
This basic intellect, which we were born with and have learned, instructs us how to behave in specific situations. Can this automatic comprehension be taught to a machine?
Emotion Artificial Intelligence
Emotion Artificial Intelligence (Emotion AI) is not the same as a computer that weeps after a hard week. Emotion AI, also known as Affective Computing, is a branch of artificial intelligence that aspires to process, interpret, and even imitate human emotions. It was founded in 1995.
The technique intends to increase natural communication between humans and machines in order to produce an AI that interacts more authentically. If artificial intelligence can develop emotional intelligence, it may be able to duplicate those emotions.
Sentiment analysis and opinion mining
Sentiment analysis, often known as opinion mining, is a subfield of Natural Language Processing that involves algorithmically recognising and categorizing opinions stated in text to establish the user's attitude towards the issue.
This use case can be used in a variety of industries, including think tanks, call centers, telemedicine, sales, and advertising, to take communication to the next level.
Can AI express emotion?
Many of these use cases, such as Telemedicine Chatbots and Call Centre virtual assistants, are looking into the development of Emotion AI to not only recognise consumers' emotions but also improve how these platforms respond personally.
The ability to imitate human-like emotions provides these platforms and services greater authenticity. But is this a genuine expression of emotion?
AI and neuroscience academics agree that existing kinds of AI do not have their own feelings, although they can mimic emotion, such as empathy. Synthetic speech also helps to minimize the robotic tone with which many of these services function, allowing for a more realistic feeling.
Artificial General Intelligence.
Many researchers accept as true that growing an Artificial General Intelligence with a higher stage of comprehension will allow robots to experience emotions within the equal manner that people do.
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), rather than Narrow Intelligence, refers to computers' capability to do an extensive variety of responsibilities, just like human beings. Artificial Narrow Intelligence, as the name implies, strives to execute discrete responsibilities with high efficiency and precision.
Artificial General Intelligence encompasses emotional and social intelligence, which are not always tied to a specific activity or objective. AGI tries to reproduce our qualities, which appear to us to be automatic. They are not motivated by a specific objective; we do things simply because we enjoy doing them.
Conclusions
We are still several years away from developing an Artificial General Intelligence capable of reproducing every activity we can accomplish, particularly those characteristics that we consider most human, such as emotions.
