9 Things You Need to Know Before Getting Laser Hair Removal

Don’t deny, we know that you face this nasty problem time and again; after all, your hair follicles are not so obedient. Don’t you think that you should opt for a solution that ends this miserable tale? There is an ultimate solution.

Just like they say “when there is a will there is a way”, “when there is a trouble of unwanted hair, there is a laser hair removal solution.”

It’s ok that it didn’t rhyme so good. Of course, we are not the modern world’s Shakespeare. No more long talk now! Do you want to opt for laser hair reduction? Are you tired of your pesky hair?

Hang on! Before saying yes, there are quite a lot of things you need to know. Let’s tell you about it.

It is never one-size-fits-all

Don’t think that your skin can be treated by all types of laser hair removal machines. Special machines are designed to treat dark skin, fair skin, oily skin etc. When you consult your dermatologist for laser hair reduction, communicated about your skin type.

Follow-ups are needed!

Oh God, who told you that? After going through multiple numbers of sessions, nobody will feel like to revisit the dermatologist. Be assured; there are less number of follow-ups if you undergo the recommended number of sessions.

No Sun Bathing for a few days

Your skin will burn like a toast in the toaster, if you go for sunbathing right after the laser treatment. It is not merely about sunbathing, but the consultants ask you to avoid going in the sun for a longer period. Oh, wait! It is not just about going in the sun after that, but yes, you are not allowed to go in the sun 2 weeks before the treatment.

Just shave, don’t wax

Before the session, make sure that you wax the area. Oh God, you didn’t notice the mistake we made. Read the first sentence of this paragraph again; if you fail to spot the mistake then it means you are not paying attention. Now, hear us out “You are not allowed to wax the area before session else the laser machine won’t be able to target your pesky hair follicles.”

Set realistic expectations

The laser hair reduction doesn’t work like magic. Don’t expect that the laser technician has some magical potion that will disappear your hair follicles. You need to be patient to see the results. Some people see the visible results right after the first session while sometimes it takes 4-5 sessions to see the results. Surely, you will come across the deceptive claims that 100% hair removal but that’s not the case here. Due to the change in hormones, some stubborn hair will always grow back. Another reason for the re-growth of hair could be the hormonal imbalance or the use of harsh medicines.

It is not completely painless

Deceptive advertisements always steal your ability to see the big picture. Many clinics and medical spas advertise that laser hair reduction is painless. Think for a second, activate your mind that approves of logical reasoning then you will understand that these advertisements are deceptive. For sure, you’ll bear a mild discomfort, but that too will disappear after 24 hours.

Stick to the schedule

Sometimes the laziness and sometimes the work commitments compel us to stretch our appointment a bit more. You need to keep one thing in mind that it is not ideal to push the appointments as the consultant set the appointments solely on the basis of the growth cycle of your hair. If there is an emergency, then it is recommended to call your therapist and ask to reschedule your appointment.

The Cost

Curious about the cost? Each session costs around $250 to $400. We have given you the rough estimate. The cost of treatment varies greatly depending on the size of the area for which you are receiving treatment and the complexity of the issue.

Risks Involved

Don’t put your skin at risk by going for the substandard therapy providers. There are some risks involved; you can suffer a few injuries from the laser heat including the risk of burn, scarring, bacterial infection etc. Hang on! Don’t be so scared. You will face such side effects only when you will opt for a substandard therapist. Make sure that you choose a reputable one if you want to save yourself from such risks.

The bottom line

So, what’s your decision now? Don’t let the temptation of saving few bucks hitch you. Take proper consultation and choose a reputable therapist. Your therapist can tell you more whether you should go for this treatment or not, after knowing your medical history and analyzing your skin.
