Spend Hours Working on Your Feet? Try These Different Tips

When you work on your feet for hours on end, it can take quite the toll on you. Plenty of professionals work hard and spend a lot of time on their feet, including those working at restaurants, in hospitals, on airplanes, and even in retail. Many of these individuals are on their feet for at least eight hours, but some spend even more time than that standing around while getting their jobs done. Some of these individuals do not even have an opportunity to wear the shoes they would like to wear because they need to follow the dress code in the workplace. If you are one of those people who spends a lot of time on his or her feet while working and you need some relief, there are a few different things you can do to improve the way that your feet feel in no time.

Know Your Shoe Size

Some people experience a lot of discomfort because they are wearing shoes that are simply too tight. You should know your proper shoe size before you start shopping around for any footwear. You can have your feet measured at a shoe store by someone who works there to ensure that the measurement is completely accurate before you make a purchase. Investing in a good pair of shoes that fit properly will help to reduce some of the pain you would normally feel while you are working.

Change Things Up With Your Shoes

Rather than constantly wearing the same pair of shoes each day, try to switch things up and wear different pairs throughout the week. By rotating your footwear, you can switch up the level of support your feet receive throughout the week while resting areas of each foot that are often overworked and sore. You deserve to have at least two or three good pairs of shoes like these Klogs, that you can switch back and forth from.

Try to Sit When You Can

If it is possible, try to take small breaks where you can sit and rest your feet. For example, if you are given a 30-minute break in the middle of the day, do not waste your break standing up and talking to someone. Find a good place to sit down and relax your feet, even if it is only for a little bit. If you do not have the option of taking a seat to relax your feet, try to switch your position while you stand so that you are not constantly putting the weight of your body on one foot.

Use Items to Add Comfort

There are ways to get even more support for your feet than your shoes currently provide. You can purchase insoles or special inserts that will provide you with the additional support you want and need to have. You might even want to invest in arch support for your shoes, especially if you have visited with a foot doctor and have been told that you have flat feet.

Pick the Right Socks

It might not seem like it will make much of a difference, but a good pair of socks will leave your feet feeling more comfortable while you are standing for lengthy periods. There are socks that provide extra cushion and are made of a moisture-wicking material that keeps them from getting soaked while your feet are sweating throughout the day.

Put Some Padding Down

Depending on where you work, you may have the option of putting a small mat or throw rug down on the floor where you are currently standing. When you have that extra padding underneath your feet, it can truly make a difference. There are even anti-fatigue mats that are available and are perfect for those who work as cashiers.
