You see it crawling on the floor. It has multiple legs, in fact many legs. It’s brownish, elongated with different segments. It’s a centipede or millipede! So if you want to keep house clean then you must know about the centipede extermination.

There are various species of centipedes and they usually live outdoors in moist areas such as under leaves, tree bark, boards, stones, or around plants. However if you see one hanging around your house, it could be that it had gotten lost in your house. But if your house is invaded by them, that means you’re housing what is known as ‘house centipede’s and it’s time to do something about it unless of course if you want to keep them as pets.

Most centipedes are usually harmless but some of these centipede’s bites might cause itchiness or minor illness. Therefore, it is better we exterminate them before it’s too late.

Centipede Extermination Methods

Centipedes could be scary but like I said, they are usually harmless and so if you still have a soft heart for them, maybe you can use the “trap them in a jar” method. This way, you do not have to commit any murder. After trapping the little creature, just make sure you cast them far away so that they can’t find their way back to your house.

The other easy method of centipede extermination is to squash them or spray on them. If you are using the spray, bear in mind it is not easy to target your spray on centipedes as their numerous legs make them extremely fast. The squashing method is easy; you just kill them by stepping on them or using an object to smash them but the only disadvantage with squishing centipedes is that you’ll widen centipede guts on the floor.

Alternatively, you can save energy chasing centipedes by setting up sticky traps instead of spraying or squashing. This method is usually better if you want to catch or exterminate a few centipedes. Place these traps along the corners of your house or places that you think centipedes are most likely to appear.

The first way is to block all entry points such as holes or cracks by sealing them. This way, you can avoid having tiny centipedes exploiting those holes to get into your house.

As I’ve mentioned before, centipedes love to reside in moist areas. So, naturally to keep them away is to keep your home dry such as cleaning damp basements, attics, closets or places that could be home to centipedes. You can also use ‘dehumidifiers for this purpose. Overall, if you use any of the methods above, you’re sure to be successful in your centipede extermination operation.
