5. Sam Houston Memorial Museum

This museum is the oldest and largest of its kind in Texas. It explores how America has changed since General Sam Houston, a renowned figure in Texas history, led an army to battle for independence from Mexico. The site features historical artifacts such as clothing worn by soldiers during this time and weapons used against them (such as swords).

6. Huntsville State Park

It spans across the Houston Ship Channel just south of downtown.
