What is acne?

Acne is a condition of hair follicles and oil glands (sebaceous glands). Mayland sweat glands melt the oil (oil) to hydrate the skin. If the glands are obstacles, acne, and cysts. Acne is very common. People of all races and ages have acne. Most people between the ages of 11 and 30 in the US are affected. Even people in their 40s and 50s can get acne. But acne usually begins in puberty. During puberty, male hormones (androgens) grow in both men and girls. This causes the sebaceous glands to produce more oil.

Normally, the oil produced is transferred to the skin through the hair follicles. However, skin cells can block follicles. This can cause oil blockage. When the hair follicle becomes clogged, skin bacteria begin to grow in the hair follicle. Then inflammation and acne develop. The most common types of buttons are:

Whiteheads (closed comedones): These pimples are small, white spots that are closed and filled with pus.

Blackheads (open comedones): These pimples have a small black hole at the top. Although these knobs are black, the color does not show through the dirt. It is produced by the oxidation process of oil when exposed to air. Papules: These are small, soft pink bumps.

Pustules: pustules above the lesion and red pustules below. Symptoms of inflammatory acne.

Nodules: Hard, large, painful bumps that form deep in the skin.

Cysts: Deep, painful, pus-filled cysts often lead to scarring. Acne lesions at the base are called comedones.

What causes acne?

The increased level of hormones during puberty can cause acne. Also, acne is often hereditary. Other causes of acne include:

  • Changes in hormone levels during a woman's menstrual cycle
  • hormonal changes during pregnancy
  • Start or stop taking birth control pills
  • Certain medications (such as corticosteroids, lithium, and barbiturates)
  • Scalp oils and fats, mineral oil or cooking oil, and some cosmetics
  • Diet can also play a role

Picking acne or rubbing the skin too hard can make acne worse. The skin can also be irritated by friction or pressure from a helmet, backpack, or tight collar. Dust or moisture can irritate the skin.

What are the symptoms of acne?

Acne can occur without fire or abscess or abscess. It can appear anywhere on the body. However, acne is more common in areas with high concentrations of sebaceous glands, including:

  • trunk
  • upper back
  • shoulder
  • neck
  • Acne can mimic other skin conditions. Always consult your doctor for a diagnosis.

Can acne be prevented?

Acne is caused by the normal hormonal changes that occur during puberty. This makes preventing acne difficult, if not impossible. However, it helps to avoid things that can cause acne. These include certain medications (such as corticosteroids, lithium, and barbiturates), mineral or edible oils, or certain cosmetics. The shampoo you use every day will prevent the oil from reaching your scalp, face, or back. Treating acne early can prevent it from getting worse and causing scarring.
