Although it has very many advantages, its use to the extreme is very dangerous to the children. Beginning from the psychological disorders, technology hazards are being manifested in almost every respect, ranging from diseases. Recognizing these effects is important for parents, educators, and policymakers.

1. Mental Health Concerns

Youth are vulnerable to what they come across on these digital platforms, especially social media and gaming. Reports show that all children who spend most of their time on gadgets are always anxious, depressed, and have low self-esteem.

  • Impact of Social Media: Habits formed from exposure to digital media such as IG promote comparison and hence the” FOMO,” which results in isolation. New studies show that more than 73% of persons who spend a lot of time using social media have reported feeling more lonely.
  • Sleep Disorders: Electronic displays interfere with physiological clocks and hamper sleep, which worsens attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as well as mood disorders.

The nature of threats children are receiving online is constantly becoming worse, for example, cyberbullying, identity theft, and exposure to obscene content.

  • Cyberbullying: Daily, it is estimated that forty percent of different teenagers globally practice online bullying, while 58% of teenagers report being bullied at some point online. That is why the use of the internet often provokes negative actions and responses from the participants.
  • Inappropriate Content: Unsupervised adoption of technology is a health risk to children’s psychological well-being since they come across unfair content.

  • Parental Controls: There is software that can be downloaded on the client’s computer to supervise content and deny access to obscene sites.
  • Open Communication: To also encourage appropriate use of the technologies, parents should sit down with the kids and explain possible dangers.
  • Lead by Example: Set good technology examples so that a child will want to imitate and learn from them.
