Amazon Brings a Suit against Enforcement Directorate, Seems to quash Future Group Deal Probe

In recent days the international company Amazon has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Subject of the deals that were made between Amazon.com and Indian company Future Group. And now the interesting news is that the Company Amazon itself has brought a suit against the Enforcement Directorate.
The filing suit against the ED contains the notice copy that was issued by the ED while summoning Amazon’s Executives including India’s heads. The plea has been filed before the Court for seeking the quashing order for the investigation that was earlier issued by the Crime Branch of India to probe the Deal of 2019 between Amazon and Future Group. In which the ED claimed misleading charges against the company.

The Enforcement Directorate has been probing the matter of the deal that was made between Amazon and India’s Future group in which the total investigation was about 200 million dollars (about 1510 crore) and the violation of Foreign investment laws was imposed on the company.
Amazon said “The directions by the ED asking for disclosure of legally privileged documents and litigation privilege information is derogatory of the Principle” and these are laid down in India and not for the public.
The Amazon also said that the “Investigation is a Fishing and roving exercise”
It also added that previous time the company was in a confident situation and it complied with the regulations and that it “Doesn’t give preferential treatment to any seller on its marketplace”.
The case has been filed before the Delhi High court on 21st December.
