Huawei is dealing with the ban on its equipment from many countries in the world. Sweden after the UK has become the second country in Europe to ban the 5G network instrument manufactured by the company originated in Huawei.

After the Nordic country Sweden banned the China-based Huawei instrument in the installation of 5G networking in the country, Huawei has brought a lawsuit against Sweden under the World Bank Group. The Chinese Company has published a statement regarding the matter to AFP as given below-
“The Swedish authorities’ decision to discriminate against Huawei and exclude it from the 5G rollout has significantly harmed Huawei’s investment in Sweden, in breach of Sweden international obligations,” said in a statement.
The company based on Huawei has also added the statement regarding the matter as it has initiated the arbitration proceedings under the World Bank Group’s International Center for Settlement for Investment Disputes (ICSID), the statement can be read as “against the kingdom of Sweden following several measures taken by the Swedish authorities targeting directly Huawei’s investment in Sweden and excluding Huawei from 5G roll out in the network product and services in the country,” said by the Huawei Company in a statement.
The Huawei-based company has not stated any specific amount of damages but according to the public broadcast SVT, the initial sum sought was SEK 5.2 billion (INR 4, 410 crores) but the possibilities are much higher.
Sweden also has ordered the Huawei Company to remove all the already installed equipment from its country. Sweden has become the second country in Europe after the UK to ban Chinese-based equipment.
The Sweden court has confirmed the decision by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority after an appeal from Huawei.
The decision would strain relations between Sweden and China and it could more severe than the expectation as the Huawei-based company would think for retaliation.
