The giant chip-making company Intel is now investing in Blockchain technology with the use of new technology that will be used to mine cryptocurrency. The main objective of the company is sustainability with plans to “develop the most energy-efficient computing technologies at scale,” the information regarding the plan was revealed by the senior vice president Raja koduri of Intel’s Accelerated Computing system and graphics group.
Including the above information, Koduri also revealed that Intel’s new mining chips will be available later in 2022 with US electric power company GRIID infrastructure, crypto Argo Blockchain, and Jack Dorsey Block will be the first client of the new Intel’s Chip.
Koduri said in a press release that Intel’s new custom compute group will “contribute to the development of Blockchain technologies with a roadmap of the energy-efficient accelerator.”
He also reveals about crypto mining and Blockchain “require an enormous amount of computing power, which unfortunately translates to an immense amount of energy.” Therefore, the chipmaker also trying to make the chip technology which will be less consumable computing power to tackle the issue.
He added
“Our customers are asking for scalable and sustainable solutions, which is why we are focusing our efforts on realizing the full potential of Blockchain by developing the most energy-efficient computing technologies at scale.”
These newly specialized chips made to handle the specific workload of crypto mining, have included application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). As per the information leaked last week that the chip will be manufactured under the code name “Bonanza”. The Company Intel has confirmed now that these chips will be available later this year 2022.
The research of multiple years over the cryptography and hashing technology, Intel has come to a point of confidant that this new ultra-low-voltage crypto mining ASICs will be able to provide enough speed 1,000 times better performance than mainstream GPUs for SHA -256 based mining.”
