NASA Post May Reveals an Idea for the Cat's Nebula Sound
NASA has released a post that offers an idea for the Cat’s Eye Nebula Sound.
Cat’s Eye Nebula also called NGC 6543, appears like an onion looks like it is cut in half.
Highlights
- The post was shared by NASA via Hubble’s official account of Instagram.
- Two big agencies Hubble and Chandra X-ray observatory captured the data.
- Cat’s Eye Nebula is also cited as NGC 6543.

Space consists of many particles including a major percentage of gases and this time NASA has posted information related to such matter as Nebula which is a giant cloud of dust and gas occupying the space between stars. Some observatory scientist has captured some beautiful images of Nebulae in some recent years and this promotes us to think about how these cosmic clouds are made in space when interpreted as sound.
A telescope based on NASA has released a video on its Instagram page that shows sonification of data of Cat’s Eye Nebula captured by it, including with the telescope a space agency X-ray Observatory which experience the Cat’s eye nebula through sound. Said in post.
These planetary nebula formed when big stars like Sun and others release their outer gaseous layers to form bright nebulae. This Cat’s Eye Nebula is also known as NGC 6543. Scientists have explained that Nebula was formed when the star released its mass in a series of pulses at 15000 years interval which makes the Nabula like onion structured where each layer can be seen as a formation.
The Nebula shows the bull's eye which has eleven or more concentric shells around the “Cat’s eye” and each shell is the edge of a spherical bubble.
Scientists have given many types of research that show the reason for such ring-like patterns including the cycle of magnetic activity that is to some extent similar to our Sun’s sunspot cycle and stellar pulsations.
The information given in a post talks about the music using the data sonification technology. The post also reveals that Xrays from Chandra Observatory have been represented by a harsher sound and the visible light data shows the smoother sound.
NASA agency also told when the Big star-like sun started to run out of helium to burn, it gives huge round-shaped gases and dust clouds. These stars' gases can form such a spectacular structure that can be seen in the Cat’s eye Nebula.
