The cogent company said on Friday that it is cutting the supply of internet services to Russia, the CEO of the company Cogent Schaeffer revealed.
CEO also asked that some of the Russian clients asked him for an extension and that company try to accommodate them.
Company Cogent is the company that allows the data to flow to different parts of the country through the guts of the Internet. Cogent is the second biggest internet producer in Russia.
Russia’s action to invade Ukraine in the International aspect has faced huge condemnation and criticism and that resulted in to ban on businesses with Russia and also stopped the services and products transportation in Russia. The Russian action has also resulted to send millions of refugees to neighboring countries, Russia has invaded most parts of Ukraine including Europe’s Largest Nuclear plant and Kyiv under the name of Special Military Operation.
The CEO of Cogent said Company did not want to be used for “outbound cyber-attacks or disinformation,” hence Cogent took the step at least partially.
He said the company is also worried about the implications of the cogent step in Russia, the Russians would not be able to search any information on the internet that it provides.
He does so even after he does not want to do so because of the ongoing Russia- Ukraine crisis. He stated “It was a tough decision,” for Cogent Company.
