VPN Demand in Russia Surge After Facebook, Instagram Block

Now Russians will not be able to use Instagram to post their information on social media platforms, accessible to all over the world. In response to Meta’s decision to give a path for such information as “Death to the Russian Invaders”, Russia banned Instagram. The ban on social media platforms led to the unexpected surge in the demand for Virtual Private Networks (VPN) in Russia.
As per the report by a VPN monitoring Firm that the platform demand surged to 2,088 percent higher than the daily average demand in mid- February. Russia planned tit for tat and it banned the social media platform including Instagram on Monday after looking at the decision of Meta to keep flowing data against Russia.

Where most of the technology giant companies including Instagram and Facebook stopped giving their services in Russia, many powerful countries imposed heavy sanctions over Russia and canceled most of the trade and agreement with Russia after Russia’s action over Ukraine of Invasion. These actions by countries against Russia made Russia suppressed and a battling situation for Russia to res6trict the flow of such information in the social media platforms.
VPN demand in the Russian region had already been when the Ukrainian website faced a huge cyber-attack. Russia also tried to ban the VPN services in the nation but he failed to do so after facing a large protest in the favor of Internet Freedom in the country.

The firm Top 10VPN’s data analyzed more than 6,000 entries to Russia’s central registry of blocked websites found that 203 news sites and 70 foreign crypto-related sites are currently blocked in Russia.
Roskomnadzor, state communication regulator reveals the attacks against the Russian regulators and government had increased since February 24 and also warned the people behind such cyber-attacks that it may lead to criminal consequences.
