Google is facing a lawsuit in which it is accused of systemic bias against black employees. The suit says the company steers them to lower-level jobs, less pay, denial of the opportunity to advance because of their race. As per the complaint that was filed against Google saying as an accused that is maintaining the situation in the corporate culture where racial discrimination dominates the culture. The culture favors the white person where the percentage of the Black employees of Google is only 4.4 percent. The lawsuit was filed on Friday.
April Curley is the plaintiff who filed a lawsuit against the company Google for discriminating against the company employees based on their race. The suit was filed in the Federal Court in San Jose, California.
The action against the world-famous company google came after the Department of Fair Employment and Housing began investigating the Company’s treatment of Black female workers.
She said that she was hired in 2014 to specifically design an outreach program to historically black colleges. After a few days her work was used to be denigrated by the supervisor, she was also called by “angry” black women and passed over for promotions.
Curley told she was fired in September 2020 when she and her friend working on a list of desired reforms.
Curley’s Lawyer said in a statement “while google claims that they were looking to increase diversity, they were undervaluing, underpaying, and mistreating their black employees,” Ben Crump said.
The case name is Curley V Google LLC, Us District Court, and Northern District of California, no 22-01735.
