NASA shared an image in which a view comes of 5 galaxies in deep space on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope. NASA recalls the launch date of the Hubble Telescope which is April 24 1990 and deployed the next day. This week serves as the Telescope’s 32nd anniversary of its birthday. The Telescope came into the service on 30 May 1990.
The image shared by NASA, in which five galaxies are shown clearly, is called the Hickson Compact Group 40. The group of galaxies is shown in the image and one of them is a giant elliptical galaxy glowing with blended light from billions of stars, three more spiral galaxies, and one lenticular (lens-like) galaxy.
The image is called the part of the video where Hubble’s senior project scientist Dr. Jennifer Wiseman explains what is shown, she also explained the importance of the individuals present in the image.
She also explained the reason why the galaxies are attached in a gravitational dance. She said “The group is so crowded that it can fit within a space less than twice the span of our own Milky Way galaxy’s disk,” Dr said.
