India will launch an Open network for digital commerce (ONDC) to take on the companies like Amazon and Flipkart. The company is ready to onboard 30 million sellers and 10 million merchants.

The Indian government is trying to mitigate the influence of American Maker
in India and hence for the first time Indian Government is about to launch an Open Network Digital Commerce platform that will compete with foreign companies like Amazon and Walmart in the fast-growing e-commerce market.
The decision the launching such a platform came after India’s antitrust body Thursday raided domestic sellers of Amazon and some of Walmart’s Flipkart. The accusations have been imposed on them for violating the competition law.
The new platform of the Government, named ONDC will allow buyers and sellers to connect and transact with each other online. The platform’s soft-launching is scheduled for Friday before being expanded, as the trade ministry said to Reuters.
The official document of the Indian Government clearly stated the two companies which are controlling India’s more than 50 percent of the e-commerce market. They are limiting access to the market and the dominant companies are giving preferential treatment to some sellers and squeezing supplier margins. The official statement does not include any name of the company.
Amazon and Flipkart, both the market-leading e-commerce companies have denied any comment on India’s ONDC platform.
ONDC platform has a future vision as it planned to onboard 30 million sellers and 10 million merchants online. They also aimed to cover 100 more cities by August.
According to the document released on OBDC, the application will be focused on the local languages of both buyers and sellers and some small merchants and rural consumers.
