Recently, Apple has come up with the latest version of its operating systems - iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 those will come to iPhones and iPads. Well, we must be aware of this launch by Apple so the new version will bring in new and various important features to iPhones and iPads. However, a recent report suggests that iPadOS 16, the Apple iPads will lose out on features with the coming of iPadOS 16.
According to a MacRumors report, with the coming out of iPadOS 16, the Apple iPad users will no longer be able to use an iPad as a home hub to control the HomeKit accessories. The report adds that a text was found in the second developer beta of iOS 16 that mentions that iPad will no longer support as a home hub.
'A home hub is required in order to take advantage of features like receiving accessory notifications and allowing other people to control your home. You will not be able to view shared homes until those homes upgraded to the latest HomeKit. iPad will no longer be supported as a home hub,' as reported by MacRumors.
Once the changes come into effect, the iPad loses this functionality as the users will have to switch to a HomePod, HomePod Mini, or Apple TV to use the features enabled by the hub after upgrading to iOS 16. As MacRumors point out, 'only Apple TV and HomePod will support as a home hub.' For instance, users will have to use the above mentioned devices to access Siri remotely or to use location-based automation features.
At the same time, these changes might appear disappointment, there is some good news on the smart home front for iOS 16. This update will be including an all-new Home page with certain features like a new categories section along with a redesigned home tab. Later iOS 16 updates will be adding Matter, the upcoming new smart home connectivity standard with broad industry support. Hence, it will provide a clue as to why Apple has been drooping iPad home hub support.
