Fuel-efficient Routes for EV and others soon going to be offered by Google Maps
Google Maps is absolutely engaged in introducing a feature that would show users energy-efficient routes during the time of navigation to their destination. It is therefore based on the type of engine which is fitted inside the car. Well, last year the tech giant Google had declared that its Maps app would provide navigation via routes that would be fuel-efficient and better for the environment as well.

On the other hand, the quantity of electrical vehicles (EV) within US continues to get extended, Google Maps has been currently offering the similar routes for EV and an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. However, both of the engines behave completely different from each other, which mean that an ICE vehicle’s fuel-efficient route may not be as efficient for an EV, and vice-versa.
According to a report, the company is functioning on a Google Maps feature which might permit users to change between varieties of engines, providing them directions to their destination via the most fuel-efficient route. Well the new feature was noticed within the code of the most recent beta update version 11.39 of Google Maps, but it is currently not visible to users.
An introduction of the feature last year by Google had allowed vehicle owners to select the most fuel-efficient and environment friendly route. However, the service do not usually show routes which are based on the type of vehicle, instead providing users one fuel-efficient route from a point A to B for all kinds of vehicles. A fuel-efficient route for an ICE powered vehicle would not be as efficient as an EV or a vehicle with a hybrid engine. While the report has reported about the existence of strings which would suggest a choice to 'choose engine type”, which usually do not specify the type of engines which will be supported.
During the month of June, Google had declared that Android and iOS users in India, Indonesia, Japan, and the US are ready to get an estimate of the toll price on the Google Maps app for nearly 2,000 toll roads. The feature would also take into consideration different factors like having a toll or not, the day of the week, and the time of crossing the toll to give an estimate, as per the company.
