Twitter is all set to raise the Blue Subscription Price
People have been constantly expressing their excitement that Twitter is free, but for some people it was not the same. Twitter Blue was launched last year in many countries, tacking on many additional features for those who were willing to pay $2.99 per month. Today Twitter had announced to its subscribers that it would be increasing the price (via Matt Navara), and in the US it had jumped up to $4.99 per month. Well, this would probably not break the pockets of information addicts who would choose to pay for a service that would still include advertisements in their feed. But it may be enough to make people ask themselves that if it would be worthy.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Twitter announced that it would increase the subscription price
- In US, the blue subscription price jumped to $4.99 per month
- Twitter expect to attract over 100 million subscribers
The add-ons within the Twitter Blue package would range from extremely useful (an undo tweet window to fix typos, a customizable navigation bar, a list of Top Articles shared the people whom we would follow, and ad-free access to articles on sites) to trivial (the ability to decide from completely different app icons) to questionable (NFT hexagon profile pics).
The users have been send an email where the Twitter Blue team had insisted the higher rate “helps us continuosly to build a number of the features you’ve been inquiring for, which would improve upon the present ones you already love and sustain our mission of supporting journalism.”
It does not mention Elon Musk, even if the company would simply blamed him for a Q2 revenue dip compared to the year previous. Musk has been attempting to exit the deal in order to acquire Twitter for $44 billion. But he had reportedly floated the idea of an unnamed subscription service outside of Blue that he thought would be able to attract over 100 million subscribers.
The higher price would soon be taken into effect for new subscribers. Well, for the first adopters, Twitter had mentioned that they would stay locked in at the original price until October. Therefore, it could expect to receive an opportunity to cancel at least 30 days before the new rate would be taken into effect.
