While conducting 5G auctions within those days itself the government has completed the spectrum 'harmonisation' method, by paving the way for players' holdings to be streamlined within a specific band for bigger efficiency mentioned by the Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The government has completed the spectrum 'harmonisation' process in one single day
- The government has been for allocation of radio waves by 12th August
- The harmonization of spectrum would lead to greater efficiencies for the players
The spectrum harmonisation method, essential for 5G services, has brought along a bunch of radio waves which were holdings in a band into one contiguous block with the consensus of all telecom service providers.
According to Vaishnaw, the government has been on course for the timely allocation of radio waves which were bought by players (in the auction) by August 12. The approval process from the Committee of Secretaries has also been completed.
He mentioned that 'In one single day, we have been able to complete the spectrum harmonisation process that takes place after every auction.'
The harmonisation of the spectrum results in bigger efficiencies for players, as chunks of radio-wave holdings in one band have been brought together or consolidated with the agreement of all players.
He claimed that 'The promise we fulfilled that we would be going to allot spectrum by August 12...we were definitely on time.'
A telecommunication department official, has been explaining the idea of spectrum harmonisation, had drawn a parallel with distributed land holdings with gaps being brought along into contiguous holding.
India's biggest ever auction of telecom spectrum which concluded on August 1 had received a record Rs 1.5 crore of bids. Well, after every auction, the separate holdings of a single player in a band have brought along through the harmonisation method. All the players ought to be in an agreement for such shifting and consolidation to occur, a method that usually takes months to finish.
Vaishnaw has mentioned that 'It was a tough method however we had completed the harmonisation method in one single day. The team has worked very meticulously.'
