Airtel Witnessed an Increase in Mobile Data Consumption by 16.6 Percent
Bharti Airtel has been the second-biggest telecommunication operator in India, on Monday it has reported a 2.2 percent increase in quarterly revenue, which got boosted by 4G subscriber additions and higher data consumption.

The average revenue per user (ARPU) which would be considered as a key performance indicator within the telecommunication industry, it came in at Rs. 183 rupees for the quarter, up from Rs. 146 from a year earlier. ARPU of rivals like Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea for the same period were Rs. 175.7 and Rs. 128, respectively.
Analysts had expected the first-quarter ARPU to get boosted by a residual impact of tariff increase which was done late last year.
Well, the company's consolidated revenue from operations had rose to Rs. 32,805 crore for the quarter which got ended on June 30, from Rs. 26,854 billion within the same period last year.
As per Airtel, the mobile data consumption had surged by 16.6 percent from a year ago, along with consumption per mobile data customer at 19.5 GB per month.
While announcing tariff hikes in November, the company has mentioned that mobile ARPU was required to be at Rs. 200 and ultimately at Rs. 300, for a business model which would be financially healthy.
Well, the consolidated net got rose to Rs. 1,607 crore rupees for the quarter which got ended on June 30, from Rs. 284 crore last year.
It was found that the company has been raising money in order to fund its digital ambitions, as well as developing home broadband, data centres, cloud adoption because it has been preparing to launch its next-generation 5G services within the country.
Airtel had won 5G spectrum which was worth $5.4 billion (roughly Rs. 43,000 crore) within the country's $19 billion (roughly Rs. 1.5 large integer crore) auction. Well, the government aims to start the rollout of 5G by the October month of this year therefore, it mentions that 5G would provide data speeds about 10 times quicker than the 4G speed.
