JioMart on WhatsApp get Launch for Shopping by Jio Platform and Meta
On Monday, Meta and Jio Platforms had launched its first end-to-end kind of shopping experience on WhatsApp. In India the consumers would be able to shop from JioMart right from the WhatsApp app. They would be able to access and browse through JioMart's grocery catalogue, they would be able to add things to cart and then make the payment to complete the purchase from the app. On the 45th Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani the Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director had announced that Jio would start to roll out 5G services in India by October.

As per Jio’s statement, JioMart has been considered as the first initiative and JioMart on WhatsApp would enable the users in India which would include those who have never made online shopping before, to make a purchase through WhatsApp by just sending ‘Hi’ to the JioMart number (+917977079770) on WhatsApp. The launch has been considered as the strategic partnership within Meta and Jio Platforms which was announced in 2020.
According to statement given by Ambani, “Mark and I have shared a vision of getting more people and businesses online and making completely innovative solutions which would eventually add convenience to the daily lives of every Indian. One of the example of an innovative customer experience which we were proud of developing was the first ever end-to-end shopping experience with JioMart on WhatsApp. The JioMart on WhatsApp experience furthers our commitment of enabling a straightforward and convenient manner of online shopping to numerous Indians.”
The company has mentioned that the JioMart on WhatsApp experience would revolutionise “the manner numerous businesses across the country would connect with their shoppers during the time they would bring unparalleled simplicity and convenience to people's shopping experience.” Mark Zuckerberg the Founder and CEO of Meta has mentioned that chat-based experiences like this “would be the go-to way people and businesses communicate within the years to come.”
At the event, Isha Ambani was introduced as a leader of Reliance group’s retail business by Mukesh Ambani which had showcased the demo of the JioMart bot. She added that “JioMart and WhatsApp partnership would lead to growth. JioMart-WhatsApp users would use WhatsApp Pay, cash on delivery (COD), and different payment strategies.”
