Following the Cyrus Mistry Car Crash Government asked Amazon to Remove Seatbelt Alarm Blockers
India's Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had asked Amazon to halt the sale of seatbelt alarm blockers within the country. The conversation on road safety has seemingly intensified the following recent death of Indian tycoon Cyrus Mistry in an exceedingly car crash. The seatbelt alarm blockers and alternative devices along with broader road safety issues have come under scrutiny following this crash. Notably, the sale of metal clips which act as seatbelt alarm blockers was not deemed illegal in India.

Gadkari had a discussion about the road safety problems in a latest interview. He had pointed out towards that metal clips which were available on Amazon which could be inserted in seatbelt slots in order to prevent the alarm from ringing once the car was being driven.
Gadkari had disclosed that the government has sent a notice to Amazon in order to halt the sale of such metal clips on its online store.
Such clips were available on Amazon for as low as Rs. 249. As per reports, Mistry wasn't sporting a seatbelt at the time of his car getting crashed.
Vehicle accidents were caused about 150,000 deaths in India in 2021. Moreover, the government had planned to make seatbelts necessary for rear seats as well.
