The new Super Duty does not significantly differ from the existing variants in terms of design. Customers still perceive it as a large Ford pickup because that is how it appears, but all of the exterior sheet metal, save for the roof panel, has undergone significant evolutionary change. The model badge-containing fender vents behind the front wheels have been expanded vertically and are now useful as an air extractor. The conventional Ford wheel arches are still present, but the metal has been softened, giving them a more F-150 Lightning-like appearance. Along with the modification, wheels that are now flush with the bodywork help lessen aerodynamic drag.
Truck users frequently keep the tailgate open to facilitate heavier loads. The rear backup camera, however, is rendered worthless because it is usually situated vertically close to the tailgate handle. As a workaround, Ford fitted an additional camera and ultrasonic sensors to the top edge of the tailgate, which turn on when folded down in the open position.
Ford's Pro Power Onboard 2.0 kW variant is now an option for Super Duty models. Power outlets are available both within the truck and the cargo box and can also be installed on the chassis cabs using a specific kit.
The first Ford vehicles with a 5G cellular modem for connectivity will also be the Super Duty trucks introduced in 2023. All connected services, such as navigation mapping and music downloads, will be improved by the fast connection. The Qualcomm Super Duty 5G modem may serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to ten devices.
Additional F-150 characteristics that the Super Duty gets from the F-150 include the optional pop-up lockable storage underneath the back seat and a level floor in the second row of the crew cab. Although the folding shifter is missing because the heavy trucks utilise a column shifter, the fold-out work surface is still in front. If you want to nap at lunch, you can also have the F-150's maximum-recline seats.
