Russian Minister Discusses 5G, Telecom Technology, Security with MoS Communications at ITU Meet
According to a Monday official news release, RussianDeputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media Bella Cherkesova stated her ambition to further cooperation with India in telecommunications technologies, security, and the creation of use cases for 5G.
On the fringes of an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) conference in Romania that began on September 24, she had a chance encounter with the Indian Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan.
In his discussions with the Russian minister, Chauhan informed her of India's achievements in establishing digital infrastructure throughout the nation, particularly in rural and isolated areas, as a result of the recent 5G spectrum auction and the impending commercial launch of 5G in that country.
'Chauhan said that in a few years, 5G services will be available throughout the nation. India has built a 4G stack domestically and is getting ready to build a 5G stack, according to the statement.
According to him, India has made a number of efforts, including the creation of chipsets, to become self-sufficient in cutting-edge telecom technologies.
According to Chauhan, the Indian government has established a group for technological innovation to design and create 6G technology by 2030.
'The Russian Deputy Minister praised India's progress in the field of telecommunications and asserted that the country's success is an excellent case study for the rest of the world. She expressed a strong desire to strengthen partnerships with India in the areas of advanced telecom technology, security, and the creation of 5G use cases, according to a statement from the telecom ministry.
Following the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, a number of IT firms with global operations departed Russia.
During the 2022 Plenipotentiary Conference's Ministerial Roundtable, Chauhan stated that the government has developed a plan to bring mobile coverage to all 6.4 lakh villages nationwide by 2023 and fibre optic access to all by 2025.
He added that India has established 5.7 lakh Common Service Centers in rural and distant locations to reach the unconnected, ensuring the delivery of various government to citizen (G2C) e-services and other citizen-centric online services.
