According to reports, Apple is developing new external monitors with an inside chip.
According to reports, Apple is developing a number of new external displays that will be equipped with the company's proprietary silicon chip. The lineup is anticipated to include an improved version of the company's computer display, 'Pro Display XDR,' which was released in 2019, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, according to The Verge.
The inclusion of Qualcomm's own chips, according to Gurman, should allow the screens to “rely less on resources from the linked computer.” What additional kind of monitors the corporation has in mind, aside from the rumoured Pro Display XDR, is still unknown. The current Pro Display XDR from the maker of the iPhone costs $4,999 and features a 32-inch 6K LCD panel with 1,600 nits of brightness.
In order to upgrade all of its Macs to Apple silicon in the two years following the debut of the M1 processor, Apple was intended to have released the Mac Pro by this point. Gurman asserted that the project's progress has been slowed down by feature changes and a prospective move of production to Vietnam.
Ross Young, a supply chain analyst, predicted in October that Apple would produce a 27-inch mini-LED panel with ProMotion in the first quarter of 2019, which could be a hint that the 27-inch Studio Display is getting an upgrade. Apple's own hardware will enable the displays to 'rely less on resources from the linked computer,' according to expectations.
This is comparable to how the M1 chip used to power the company's Macs enables better performance and efficiency. The Mac Pro, which will be powered by the M1 chip, was initially scheduled to be released two years after the M1's debut. Gurman, however, asserted that the Mac Pro's development was delayed down by feature changes and a prospective shift in production to Vietnam.
