'The goal of the Prime Minister for a legal foundation for a society that is digitally empowered is extremely clear. The third draught, the Digital India Bill, would also be published very soon, the minister continued, noting that two of the measures have already been posted for public comment. The minister continued, 'We have paid particular attention in all three laws that it should be simple to understand, should be technology neutral, and should be future-ready. He claimed that the three bills all centre on digital space security.
Additionally, Vaishnaw noted that people in India are embracing technology at a rapid rate. It has a positive effect on the nation and filters through to Tier 2, and Tier 3 cities, small towns, and villages' startup ecosystems.
The emphasis, he continued, is on how to give the new changes that are occurring in accordance with the requirements of society a new shape. This month, it was stated that the Central government's proposed Digital Data Protection Bill would probably be introduced during the upcoming budget session.
In order to bring about a comprehensive legislation, the government withdrew the Data Protection Bill from the Monsoon Session of Parliament on August 3, 2022. The joint parliamentary committee that reviewed the original draught of the 91-section bill made 88 recommendations, according to Union Telecom and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
As a result, the government decided that it had 'no choice' but to completely withdraw the original draught. The government released a new draught of the Digital Data Protection Bill for public comment in November. There are already more than 76 crore active internet users, and in the upcoming years, this number is anticipated to reach 120 crore.
