Auto Expo 2023: Over 70 Carmakers Participate WIth EVs Taking Center Stage
Auto Expo, which features electric vehicles (EVs) from more than 70 domestic and international automakers, officially commenced on Friday.
Auto Expo 2023 is centred around electric vehicles, according to Japan's NHK World foreign programme. Maruti Suzuki, a division of the Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor, does have the leading market share in the Indian portion of passenger cars.
As reported in the NHK World article, Suzuki Motor President Suzuki Toshihiro stated that artificial gasoline and hydrogen are also cutting-edge choices in the automotive industry and that electric cars have become a feasible alternative for car owners.
Based on the article, he also emphasised how crucial it is to seriously reconsider customers' demands. In recent times, India has struggled with significant air pollution, prompting the Central government to devise a strategy to alleviate pollution.
The ministry will concentrate on pushing 30% of car owners to shift to EVs by 2030 as a component of its measures to reduce vehicle emissions. The 1.4 billion cars in India are predicted to increase even more, based on an NHK World article.
The show's crown jewel was the most recent concept EV from Maruti Suzuki. According to the NHK World article, the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) can drive 550 kilometres on just a single charge and the maker plans to start selling it in the Indian car market by 2025.
At the occasion, EVs were also displayed by other automakers from the Indian market, including Tata Motors and the Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea.
Recently, New Delhi made history by recording the greatest sales figures of electric vehicles in the nation, broken down by state and UT.

New Delhi licensed 7,046 electric vehicles as of December of the preceding year, an increase of 86% compared to the same month the previous year. Although since the EV policy's introduction, the UT has registered 93,239 electric cars, with two-wheelers accounting for roughly 55% of all EV sales in 2022.
The nation's EV capital, according to Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot, is prepared with the necessary private and public charging facilities, with a final count of 2300 charging stations and 200 batteries switching stations functioning throughout the city.
Delhi has also always been at the forefront when it comes to the registration and sale of electric vehicles. 2- and 3-wheelers were chosen as the key vehicle segments when Delhi's EV strategy was introduced on August 7, 2020.
Auto Expo is India's Biggest vehicle display that is held every two years and is observed with tremendous pomp and circumstance. The biggest auto show in India, the 15th edition, took place in February 2020, right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the nation. The succeeding Auto Expo, is being held from January 13–18 in 2023 in New Delhi.
