Twitter Is The First Major Social Media Network To Permit Cannabis Advertising.
Twitter is the first social networking site in the United States to permit cannabis advertisements. Before, advertisements for cannabis-infused or sativa CBD topical treatments were permitted. Competing platforms such as Instagram and TikTok prohibit cannabis advertisements that comply with US federal law. In contrast, medicinal marijuana is permitted in several states.
Twitter announced the upgrade in a blog post and said that the platform has been the catalyst for some of the most influential nongovernmental organizations, some of which began with a single Tweet." Twitter acknowledges the recreational use of marijuana and its presence in beverage categories such as processed food, coffee, and liquor.
The message states, “The cannabis area on Twitter is entertaining and interactive, with individuals Posting on Twitter about their adventures using cannabis for medical, wellness, or recreational purposes, as well as suggesting brands, products, and major retailers. The discussion also represents the current trajectory of the cannabis industry: legislative/policy change, commercial growth, and community impact.”

The latest update shows that Twitter examines various strategies to increase its income. Apple and Amazon were amongst Twitter's most lucrative advertising customers. Yet, Twitter looks to be losing income. According to research published by The Platformer last month, Twitter's income in Q4 2022 was down 40% year-over-year. As Twitter has become a privately owned company, the actual data are unknown. A study suggests that the company's quarterly revenue was around $942 million.
Musk has cut off 50% of Twitter's workers since November and closed a number of offices, which may offset the losses in the current quarter. The business even discovered a method to profit from excess office supplies. Last month, the corporation auctioned various equipment, workplace supplies, and culinary items.
Twitter is also testing a Blue membership in a number of countries. The subscription adds the checkbox to the profile. In India, it costs ₹ 900 per month
