Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce four new electric cars in India before the end of the year.
In the next eight to twelve months, the major German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz plans to debut four new electric vehicles in India. These vehicles would be powered by electric motors. These new models are a part of the company's aggressive goal to extend its array of electric vehicles and seize a large portion of the rapidly expanding electric car market in India.
Matthias Luehrs, the head of Mercedes-area Benz's overseas, recently spoke with the media and expressed his satisfaction with the progression of the company's electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market, specifically the EQS and EQB. Luehrs further disclosed that four additional cars are anticipated to be introduced in the Indian market.
In the Indian market, Mercedes-Benz is now selling four different versions of its premium electric car lineup: the EQS, the EQB, the EQC, and the EQS AMG. When asked about the company's sales expectations from their EV portfolio in India, Luehrs stated that they are assuming that 25 percent of total sales will come from electric vehicles within the next four years. This assumption was made in response to a question about the company's sales expectations from its EV portfolio in India. At this time, around 3 percent of Mercedes-overall Benz's sales in India are comprised of sales of electric vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz India achieved a record 15,822 unit sales in 2018, representing a 41 percent increase in overall sales when compared to the 11,242 units that were sold in the previous year. The year 2018 marked the year in which the firm reached its greatest-ever sales results, with 15,583 units being sold.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz India, Santosh Iyer, stated that the four new electric vehicles (EV) models will be released over the next eight to twelve months. During the launch, the firm will import both fully constructed and partially assembled products, both of which will then be put together at the Chakan facility of the company.
India is now the fifth-largest market for Mercedes-Benz in the "overseas" region, which comprises 120 markets other than Germany, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and China. This information was supplied by Luehrs. India ranks lower than South Korea, Japan, Australia, and Turkey in terms of the company's rankings in countries and markets outside of the United States. Nonetheless, Luehrs noted that there is a possibility for India to climb up the ladder and become the fourth-largest market over the next two years. He voiced his confidence in the Indian market as well as the substantial developments that the firm has seen in the consumer base.
