Elon Musk's Neuralink seeks a surgical trial partner
Introduction
Neuralink, a startup founded by Elon Musk that has frequently made headlines, is developing "brain-machine interfaces" to connect humans and computers. Musk, who has frequently warned about the perils of artificial intelligence, established the business in 2016. Neuralink is now seeking the required approvals to begin human testing of its products.
Awaiting human testing is Neuralink.
According to a report by Reuters, Neuralink is seeking a partner with experience conducting medical trials to assist it in testing the devices on humans. The company has not yet made any public announcements regarding the organisations with which it is in discussions or the launch date for its human testing programme.
Six people with knowledge of the case claim that the corporation reached out to one of the biggest neurosurgery clinics in the US for the same. Neuralink's plan to start human trials in early 2022 was denied by the US Food and Drug Administration because of safety concerns.
- The technique Neuralink is developing includes inserting minute electrodes into a person's brain to enable them to communicate with a computer directly.
- The device, according to Musk, is a "high-bandwidth interface to the brain," and it may one day allow people to converse telepathically. No business has up until this point been granted US clearance to commercialise a BCI implant.
- The business, however, is optimistic that these implants can someday treat conditions including paralysis and blindness.

Recent tweets from Elon Musk on Neuralink
The GPT-4, an improved version of ChatGPT, was released, and it was shown that the chatbot had already passed several tests designed intended for humans.
Moreover, GPT-4 can handle queries that are more difficult than its predecessor. Musk questioned what humans would do in response to the GPT-4's capabilities and said that we should "get a move on with Neuralink."
Neuralink is charged with animal abuse.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Inspector General opened an inquiry into potential violations of laws governing animal care at the business in 2022. According to Reuters, present and past workers spoke out against the company's hasty animal tests that led to preventable fatalities.
Also, the business disclosed in February of last year that monkey deaths had occurred during prototype testing of the BCI implants at the University of California, Davis Primate Center. The business was also charged with animal abuse at this time.
Elon Musk, however, refuted the accusations and insisted that they take great care and go through extensive laboratory testing before contemplating implanting a device in an animal.
