On Wednesday, the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee urged chiefs of many AI companies to take priority in security concerning measures, combat bias, and hold responsibility while rolling out such new technologies.
One of the Democratic Senators Mark Warner introduced the issue about the grave risks posed by AI technology.
“Beyond industry commitments, however, it is also clear that some level of regulation is necessary for this field,” said Senator Warner who sent letters to the CEOs of AI-based tech companies like OpenAI, Scale AI, Meta Platforms, Alphabet’s Google, Stability AI, Midjourney, Anthropic, Percipient.ai, Apple, and Microsoft.
Begin of the month, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told about the introduction of the effort to bring some AI rules and address national security and education concerns, after looking at the use of chatbot programs in a wide sense.
“With the increasing use of AI across large swaths of our economy, and the possibility of large language models to be steadily integrated into a range of the existing system, from healthcare to finance sectors, I see an urgent need to underscore the importance of putting security at the forefront of your work,” said Warner.
