Instagram adds a new feature globally allows downloading publicly posted reels.
- Users can now download Reels posted by public accounts and save them directly to their camera roll.
- Downloaded Reels will feature the Instagram handle of the creator as a watermark.
- Public accounts can disable the Reels download feature.
Instagram has finally rolled out the ability to download Reels posted by public accounts globally. This feature was initially introduced in the US earlier this year. With this update, users worldwide can now download Reels and save them directly to their camera roll. Downloaded Reels will include a watermark displaying the Instagram handle of the creator.
Saving Reels from Public Accounts
To download Reels from public accounts, users can follow these steps:
Open the Reel you want to download.
Tap the share icon (paper airplane icon).
Select the "Download" option.
The downloaded Reel will be saved to the user's camera roll.
Turning Off Reels Download Feature
Public accounts can disable the Reels download feature to prevent their Reels from being downloaded by others. To do this, follow these steps:
Go to Profile>Settings and Privacy.
Tap Sharing and Remixes.
Toggle off the "Downloading your Reels" option.
Sharing Saved Reels
Users can share their saved Reels to other social media apps by following these steps:
Open the Reel you want to share.
Tap the three dots icon.
Select "Share to".
Choose the social media app you want to share the Reel with.
Users can download their own Reels without a watermark from saved drafts. Users can still save Reels for viewing later even if the download feature is disabled. The download feature may take some time to roll out to all users.
