WhatsApp to roll out new Channel Alerts feature.
- Real-time updates: Channel admins receive notifications about potential policy violations.
- Review requests: Admins can directly request a review of their suspended channel.
- Improved visual experience: Navigation labels automatically hide for a larger view.
In a bid to enhance user experience and transparency, WhatsApp introduced its Instagram-like Channel features in India back in June. The WhatsApp Channel operates as a one-way communication platform, enabling administrators to share text messages, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. The company is actively working on a searchable directory to help users discover channels aligned with their interests, covering hobbies, sports teams, local updates, and more.
Channel Alerts Feature Unveiled
Recent reports indicate that WhatsApp is now rolling out a new feature called Channel Alerts, targeting Android beta testers in the 2.23.26.6 update of the app. This feature aims to provide real-time information to channel users about the suspension of their channels. Channel administrators can leverage Channel Alerts to receive notifications about potential policy violations and even request a review of their suspension directly through the Channel Alerts screen.
Enhancing Transparency and User Control
The introduction of the Channel Alerts feature adds a layer of transparency to the platform. Users can now be informed about any issues with their channels and take appropriate actions to address them. The feature also allows for a more expansive view while scrolling through tabs, automatically hiding navigation labels and the top app bar. This approach provides users with a larger view of their chats, call logs, community group chats, and channels.
