WhatsApp introduces a new pin chat feature, enabling them to highlight important messages.
Meta-owned WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that allows users to pin messages in chats, including text, polls, images, and emojis. This update aims to help users quickly find important messages in group and one-on-one conversations.
- Pin any message type: text, polls, images, emojis, etc.
- Choose pin duration: 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.
- Admin control in groups: admins can decide who can pin messages.
What are Pinned Messages?
Pinned messages allow users to easily reference important information within a chat. This can be particularly useful in group chats with a lot of activity. Any message type, including text, polls, images, and emojis, can be pinned.
How to Pin a Message:
Long press on the desired message.
Select "Pin" from the context menu.
Choose the desired duration (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days).
Admin Controls in Group Chats:
By default, all group members can pin messages. However, admins have the option to restrict pinning to admins only. This can be useful for maintaining order and ensuring that only the most important messages are pinned.
Comparison with Other Messaging Apps:
Telegram and iMessage already offer similar pin message functionalities. This update brings WhatsApp closer to feature parity with its competitors.
Disappearing Voice Messages:
Last week, WhatsApp also introduced disappearing voice messages, adding another layer of privacy to user conversations. These voice messages can only be listened to once before automatically disappearing, similar to the "View Once" option for photos and videos.
The new pinned message feature and disappearing voice messages demonstrate WhatsApp's commitment to giving users more control and privacy over their communication. These updates enhance the user experience and make WhatsApp a more versatile and secure platform for users worldwide.
