Rabbit R1: The pocket-sized AI gadget with limitless capabilities
- The Rabbit R1, which retails for about Rs 16,500, is presently exclusively accessible in the US; there are no plans for it to be made available in India.
- Along with having its own virtual assistant, the device can make and receive calls, send messages, and access services like Spotify and Uber.
A $199 stand-alone AI gadget known as the R1 was introduced by an AI business named Rabbit. The gadget was created in collaboration with Teenage Engineering with the goal of eliminating the necessity to use smartphone apps. Rather, as per the company's specs, the Rabbit R1 employs a "Large Action Model" that leverages artificial intelligence (AI)-powered "rabbits" to mimic the user's interaction with apps and complete activities over a cloud platform.
It's not a smartphone, but it does have a touchscreen, functions like a walkie-talkie, and includes a camera. The CEO of Rabbit further explained in an interview with The Verge that although their product may ultimately take the role of a smartphone, it does not currently have that intention.
It is powered by an unidentified MediaTek chip set that has 128GB of built-in storage and 4GB of RAM. It also has a 2.88-inch touchscreen display that can be used to see music settings, weather information, and the results of AI tasks. Additionally, a wheel is used to navigate the Rabbit OS interface, and a push-to-talk button on the side is used to provide commands.
The company states that for devices pre-ordered by March 31st, US shipping is anticipated to start in April.
What makes R1 so unique?
- The Rabbit R1's loud noises can be attributed to the fact that it functions somewhat similarly to personal assistants such as Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant, but with slightly more capabilities and a slightly more tactile interface.
- With a single interface, the Rabbit OS can manage your music, buy groceries for you, send texts, and make phone calls.
- Simplifying the procedure, you can express your wish and the device will take care of the rest, saving you from having to manage several apps and logins.
- By using a SIM card slot, the device allows for both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE access. It is fitted with a 360-degree rotating camera that includes a privacy mode and also has the ability to take video calls.
- It has a USB Type-C charging port and a 1,000mAh battery, but the manufacturer has not disclosed how long the device's battery would last.
