Instagram working to allow users watch reels without having application
Instagram is apparently developing a new feature on iOS that will allow non-app users to watch Reels in the app's native UI. This will be accomplished via App Clips, a feature introduced with the iOS 14 release in 2021 for the iPhone. App Clips are previews that allow users to try a specific feature before downloading the entire app. Notably, TikTok offers an App Clip feature that allows non-users to see its short video material.

The revelation comes from a 9to5Mac source that discovered an App Clip in Instagram app version 319.0.2, which is available to beta testers via TestFlight.
The App Clip allows iOS users to watch Instagram's short video content Reels within the app's native UI rather than in the web. So, if a buddy sends a link to a Reel over iMessage, viewers may now see it in the same way they would on the Instagram app. According to the source, using this function does not need the creation of an Instagram account.
App Clip allows users to watch a Reel, navigate through more popular videos, and even share them with others. However, following the sixth Reel, the App Clip encourages the viewer to download the app and highlights the report.
According to Apple, App Clips are "a small part of your app that's discoverable at the moment it's needed and lets people complete a quick task from your app — even before installing your full app." Some of these duties include renting a bike, paying at a restaurant, and others. However, App Clips are still mini-apps that must be downloaded first. They are just smaller in size and will become discoverable when the user executes a certain command.
App Clips can be activated using a whole lot of techniques, together with NFC tags, QR codes, and shareable URLs.
Clicking on it presents a drawer at the bottom with the app's call and an Open button, which whilst tapped opens the App Clip in full screen and allows the consumer to complete the work. App Clips can send notifications up to eight hours after they're opened.
These are meant to behave as a demo or preview of the software program, allowing users who are worried about it to test it out earlier than going through the prolonged technique of downloading and putting in it.
