Google Play Store now allows simultaneous downloads of two apps
• Google Play Store, where user experience is one of the key factors, enables the download of two apps at the same time.
• Getting closer to other rivals like Apple's App Store that can have up to three concurrent downloads at the same time.
With a new feature in the Play store that allows the users to download 2 apps at once times, Google made a considerable step to improve the user experience and reduce the setup time. This new innovation differs from the old process as the next app download is not queued until the previous one is completed.
Enhanced Download Capabilities
Among the most common user complains is slow downloading of only one app at a time. This becomes very noticeable when the device is new or many installations are required. The rivals, including Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppos, and Apple’s App Store have already provided simultaneous app downloads for a long time, which leads to more pressure on Google to let users use app download services.
Current challenges & future plans
For the time being, at least only new app installation will apply the concurrent download feature. Updates will not work like that. As however, the data alleges, the ability to download multiple apps at once is going to extend to app updates in the future.
App update represents the key functionality which many users do on their phones, and maintaining concurrent updates for such users could be part of further progress towards the declutter the user experience.
Updating Your Play Store
Capability of downloading is now available for Android users that they can get by keeping the Google Play Store app up to date with version 40.6.31 or higher. Visiting the Google Play Store application, tapping on their profile photo in the right upper corner, selecting 'Settings', then 'About' will disclose the current version users have. Update option is available if the users have a version that older than the latest one.
Although Google’s decision to support two simultaneous downloads is a small one, yet it is a significant step taken for an increase in user satisfaction and a chance to keep its competitive edge in the digital economy.
