Microsoft to launch its mobile game store in July
- Microsoft to come up with a mobile game store in July with Candy Crush, Minecraft other popular titles at an initial phase, on a web platform.
- The web-based approach aims at providing alternatives to the closed ecosystem stores that charge a 30% fee on sales.
Microsoft has revealed its intentions to launch a mobile game store in July, which is a notable ripple in the sea of gaming. The opening of the platform will give users the ability to browse and play some of the most famous titles like Candy Crush or Minecraft, at first being available only through the web.
President Unveils Plans:
Microsoft President Sarah Bond shared the approach the company will take to bring its first party to the app store on your mobile device while at the Bloomberg technology conference. It is intended to spread the reach of famous titles and to make the experience of playing games not confined to the conventional game consoles or PCs but extended to the mobile network too.
Web-Based Approach:
Exclusively, the Microsoft store operating on the web does not stand out as a separate app, but it is a strategic scheme. Through adaptation to a full web browser, it allows using various devices and any place across the world which also restricts the limitations of close ecosystems that are characterized as Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.
Furthermore, this adheres to the rule of avoiding the third-party demand that would automatically charge the usual 30% tax on sales.
Alternative to Apple and Google
As the digital marketing directive (DMA) of the EU has made Apple and Google submit to open their app stores for third parties, the step taken by Microsoft reveals an option complementing the EU response, especially outside the EU.
In possibly the bold move, Microsoft is going to bring its mobile game store where players can discover and have a chance to play a wide range of games.
