Amazon India to Start New Quick Commerce Idea as Competition Surging
Overview
One of the largest e-commerce platforms Amazon has taken the initiative to begin a quick commerce challenge in India with its offering by early next year. The authority to make the plan and work on it has been shifted to senior executive Nishant Sardana who is a part of the top leadership.
Amazon is all set to launch its initiative Quick Commerce in the first quarter of the next year, as per the reports circulated in all over the digital world.
The plan and strategy-making work has been entitled to a main leader in India by the US etailer who will be holding the responsibility of developing its quick commerce strategy, also which will be similar to the fast-growing segment that rivals Flipkart recently entered into the market.
"The action in quick commerce just can't be ignored any more," told a person who was aware of all the information.
One of the biggest e-commerce platforms Amazon also has been involved in talks with Swiggy in which it will buy the stake, particularly for the food delivery company's quick service platform, Instamart, as per the unveiled information.
The company has been working on this project internally and "The work (on a quick commerce verticle) has been in motion for some time, but now, there is a clarity and a lifeline," cites the executive above.
Amazon and other companies are working to provide immediate deliveries of the groceries products in under 30 minutes. The company's most of focus is on delivering grocery items just similar to the companies Swiggy and Zomato doing in India.
"The idea is to gradually bring it (delivery time) down to 20- 30 minutes," told one of the known people who was aware of the matter. "Amazon still has its next-day customer base for grocery and non-grocery items, but consumer adoption towards 30-minute deliveries has changed the landscape for everyone."
"A final product is still in progress but slotted deliveries may remain, and they are planning to start quickly with select SKUs (stock-keeping units, or items). It will still be a catch-up game with rivals- both existing and new entrants," the person also said.
