Australia's social media ban sparks teen isolation concerns.
Sydney, Australia- Last month, the government shared its plan to ban on social media usage among teenagers, which led to a new controversy in the world. There are multiple reasons associated with it, including the government restrictions on meta, which were against some security concerns of the country, and it’s amid early elections too. Experts say this will lead to traumatic conditions among children who are using it adversely.
Social media has become an integral part of everyone’s life, especially teenagers, to connect with their classmates, teachers, and friends relying on various purposes at a very young age, which adversely affects their mental health as a sudden removal of social media could lead to teenage isolation and disconnection. And added to this, they may use it secretly, leading to more dangerous phenomena.
The government is having its key notes, however, as this harmful social media content like vulnerable posts and anime characters being depicted in sexual images sparks new laws are required in the usage of these. As these are difficult to be monitored individually and the need for cyber security experts is more than that is shown, it is also difficult for the AI to detect these vulnerabilities.
Any solutions?
Yes, there is a solution for this problem: optimum usage of social media, with restricted usage conditions and new terms and conditions to use, can make a significant mark in this, and there is for sure a need for parental controls, and the data that they use must be monitored, with necessary sites in block. All these changes can make a more positive impact than a complete isolation from social media.
