Apple MacBook Pro 2026: OLED Display and 2nm M6 Chip Update
Apple is planning a major redesign for its MacBook Pro in 2026. This update will feature an OLED display and Apple’s advanced 2nm M6 chip. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the 2025 model will see minor updates, but a complete overhaul will come in 2026.
Highlights
- OLED display brings improved screen brightness and energy efficiency in comparison to other technologies.
- The M6 chip is based on a 2 nm process and offers better performance and power consumption.
- A thinner design is to be expected as it is thinner compared to older and thicker versions of the product.
- The new 2025 model sees some enhancements with the M5 chip and the least of design revisions.
The MacBook Pro is expected to receive a major update in 2026, which should cover updates in all areas; from display to design. In the MacBook Pro, Apple will release the OLED version by 2026; this is because the OLED maximizes the brightness and power of that device, as seen for iPad Pro. This change in the display transition indicates Apple’s goal to improve screen quality along with trying to reduce the energy that the device tends to consume.
The 2026 MacBook Pro will also introduce Apple’s new M6 chip, built on the advanced 2nm technology. This chip design improves power efficiency and performance, representing a significant shift from earlier versions. The redesign will most likely result in a slimmer and lighter MacBook Pro, compared with the larger design created with earlier Apple Silicon models.
In contrast, the 2025 MacBook Pro is expected to include only a processor update to the M5 series, with few further improvements. This model may include M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max variants, but without the OLED display or significant design changes.
Current MacBook Pro Models (2024)
Apple’s current MacBook Pro, launched in 2024, includes M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chip options. The lineup offers two screen sizes—14-inch and 16-inch. Prices for the 2024 models start at Rs 1,69,900 for the base 14-inch model with the M4 chip.
